The American Staffordshire Terrier is a powerful muscular dog with a strong instinct for protection and should never be confused with the Pit Bull Terrier. His protective drive makes him a gentle loving family dog, but mistrustful of strangers.

The American Staffordshire Terrier weighs between 57 and 67 pounds and are usually between seventeen and eighteen inches in height at the shoulder.
