The Affenpinscher is the smallest of the pinschers and schnauzers standing between nine and eleven and a half inches tall, and weighing usually between seven and nine pounds. A terrier-like wire-haired dog, the Affenpinscher is a well-balanced intelligent breed that makes a good family pet and comes in a wide variety of colors such as black, grey, silver, red, beige and black and tan. The German name means monkey-like terrier and refers to their monkey-like face and their clowning behavior. In France this breed is called the diablotin moustachu which means the moustachioed little devil.
